The 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) opened its second phase on October 23 in Guangzhou, with home and kitchen goods taking the floor. Glassware sits inside that lineup, and the products drawing buyers point the same way: lighter, greener, better designed and ready for private label. We are not exhibiting this time, but as a factory that works with importers all year and showed at last year’s edition, here is what the fair tells us about where tabletop glass demand is heading. |

A Fair Built Around the Home, and the Table |

The second phase runs from October 23 to 27, 2026 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, under the theme “Quality Home.” Organisers put the phase at 515,000 square metres of exhibition space with more than 25,000 booths, grouped into three sections and 14 exhibition areas that include kitchenware, household items, daily-use ceramics, glass handicrafts and home decorations. Roughly 11,000 companies joined the export exhibition, including more than 3,600 “little giant” and single-item champion manufacturers. On the import side, 213 companies from 27 countries and regions set up stands, most of them showing kitchenware, household goods and gifts. The figures matter for a simple reason: this is the week the world’s home-goods buyers set their sourcing direction for the year ahead, and glass drinkware, tableware and serveware sit squarely inside it. |

Green Is No Longer Optional for Tabletop Buyers |
Green and low-carbon products were the headline of this phase, with organisers reporting close to 640,000 such items on display. In kitchenware the talk leaned toward fully compostable tableware made from bagasse and plant fibre, put forward as a replacement for single-use plastic. Glass is already a step ahead in that conversation: it is reusable, free of plastic linings and easy to recycle, which is part of why retailers keep shifting bottled water, cold drinks and takeaway coffee back onto glass. For factories, the shift reaches beyond the material itself. European and North American buyers increasingly ask about recycled content, kiln energy use and packaging that can be recycled, and they want the paperwork to support it. A glass that is genuinely reusable now sells on more than its shape — the supply chain behind it has to stand up to questions about carbon footprint and compliance. Four Signals Glassware Buyers Should Watch |
Walking through the kind of products a home-focused fair highlights, four practical signals stand out for anyone sourcing drinkware or table glass: 1. Material fit by use case. Heat-resistant borosilicate glass keeps winning for tea, coffee and hot serving, where thermal shock resistance matters; lead-free crystal leads for wine and gift sets where clarity and a fine rim set the price; and soda-lime glass remains the sensible, lower-cost choice for everyday tumblers in volume. Buyers are matching material to the drinking moment instead of ordering one glass for everything. 2. Design as the way out of a price war. The stands that drew crowds leaned on original shape, colour and scene-led sets rather than cheaper copies of the same tumbler. For a manufacturer, that means custom moulds, finished rims and coordinated ranges now decide margins as much as unit cost. 3. Private label as the default. Most importers, hotel suppliers and retail chains arrive with their own brand in mind. They look for a partner that can handle custom logos, retail packaging and mixed-SKU orders, not a catalogue house. Our OEM/ODM customization work is built around exactly that brief. 4. Compliance decided up front. Markets differ, but the question comes earlier every year: food-contact compliance, lab tests, durable packaging and clear lead times. Sourcing decisions are being made on documentation and consistency, not on the sample alone. |

Our Read From the Factory Floor |
We are not exhibiting at this edition. Our team last showed at the 137th Canton Fair in April 2025, at Booth D04-11 in the Glass Handicraft Exhibition Area, where we met procurement managers from Europe, North America and the Middle East. The conversations we had then line up with what this year’s fair is showing: fewer buyers chasing the cheapest generic cup, more buyers asking for the right material, an original design and a factory they can hold to a specification. That suits how we work. XINGHUO Glass makes borosilicate and lead-free crystal glassware for OEM and ODM customers, with soda-lime lines for everyday volume, and we keep the focus on consistent material selection, cold-cut rims, finishing and export packaging. You do not need a fair badge to start a conversation — our export team replies to technical and pricing questions year-round. |
